IFAK III

For Soldiers in Field Deployment

The aim of the project is to create a military Improved First Aid Kit (IFAK) with ergonomic features that allow soldiers to rapidly deploy without mobility restriction in combat. This product must include essential equipment requirements provided by the Law Enforcement Officer (LEO).

Problem

Soldiers serving in the military frequently encounter unforeseen traumatic emergencies, leading to elevated rates of injuries and fatalities. In such instances, they undergo rigorous training of utilizing Individual First Aid Kit to promptly address these situations. Nonetheless, the chaotic and high-stress environment of combat can lead to delays in soldiers’ response, potentially resulting in fatal consequences.

Access to Supplies:
Seperation of supplies in the hidden pocket hinders quick access to all supplies when deployed.

Entanglement Issue:
Bungee cord restrainer is helpful when preventing insert from falling out, but it may lead to mobility and entanglement issues after deployment.

Design Iteration and Design Development

Prototypes were tested and refined for quick deployment and easy equipment accessibility.

Key Features

Quick acces to all supplies with rip-away deployment

After use, velcro backing of pouch and insert prevents entanglement issues

Single row arrangement of all supplies

Pull straps for quick access to bigger supplies (chest seal, gloves, TCCC Card)

Glove flat packaging and addition of superglue

Molle system compatible with soldiers’ uniform and equipments
